We spend a significant amount of time in the bathrooms. Sometimes we go for a shower, shaving & changing clothes, and at times just to freshen up. That’s why, your bathroom should always look shiny and sparkling.
The rest of the bathroom gets cleaned easily, but the shower tiles often remain dirty. Shower tiles, in particular, are prone to accumulating mold, mildew, and soap scum, making them look dull and unattractive. Therefore, cleaning shower tiles as part of our regular cleaning routine is essential to maintain a hygienic and sparkling bathroom.
Clean Shower Tiles
Tiling enhances the beauty and look of a bathroom. However, it is vital to clean the tiles regularly to maintain their shine and prevent them from getting dirty. Cleaning the tiles of your bathroom isn’t that difficult, but requires some time. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to clean shower tiles.
1. Gather the necessary cleaning supplies
You’ll need a few things before cleaning the shower tiles, such as a scrub brush or sponge. In addition, you will need hot water and a cleaning solution. You can buy a commercial cleaning solution from the market. But I suggest you make your solution by mixing water and vinegar equally. It’s cheaper and works perfectly.
2. Remove any loose debris
Use a scrub brush or sponge to remove loose dirt such as hair, soap scum, or other paticals.
3. Run Hot Water
Pour a bucket of hot water on the shower tiles or run the shower faucet on high temperature for 10 minutes if you have a geyser installed. This will open up the pores of the tiles and make it easier to clean.
4. Apply the cleaning solution
If you have bought a solution from the market, apply it to the tiles. Otherwise, mix vinegar and water in a bowl or anything and spray it on the tiles. Make sure you take every corner. Now leave it for 5-6 minutes.
5. Scrub the tiles
Now scrub the shower tiles using a brush or sponge. Start from the corner of the shower and work your way down to the other corner. Scrub in circular motions to remove any dirt or grime. Pay extra attention to areas that are particularly dirty or have mold growth.
6. Rinse the tiles
After scrubbing the tiles well, wash them with water. You can use a showerhead or a bucket for this. Pour water all over the bathroom so the solution is completely washed away.
7. Dry the tiles
Ultimately, use a wiper or dry the tiles thoroughly to ensure they are cleaned properly. This will not only remove any spots but also give the tiles a shiny appearance.
Prevent future mold growth
Your shower tiles have been completely cleaned. If your bathroom is ventilated, there will be less humidity and no mold growth. Always keep the bathroom window open and use curtains for privacy. Overall, cleaning tiles is an important task; you should clean them twice weekly.
